WBA Rejects Appeal from Dubois Team on the Result of Usyk Fight

The World Boxing Association (WBA) has officially reached a decision regarding the appeal filed by the team of British boxer Daniel Dubois concerning the outcome of his match against Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles.

During the 5th round, the British boxer delivered a blow below the belt to the Ukrainian, prompting the referee to allow Oleksandr time for recovery. Queensberry Promotions, the promotional company representing Dubois, maintained that the blow was within the rules and struck the body.

The WBA referred the case to the International Official Commission, which, on September 11, published its conclusion, stating that there was no clear and compelling evidence to suggest that the referee's decision during the fight was erroneous. They also determined that no video footage provided evidence of an incorrect decision.

After a thorough review of the appeal from Queensberry Promotions, the WBA concluded that the result of the match, in which Usyk knocked out Dubois in the 9th round, remains valid.

WBA regulations stipulate that decisions regarding low blows and whether a boxer who has received them can continue the fight fall under the exclusive authority of the referee, who is the only one authorised to make these determinations.
