Steve Wood, the manager of former world champion Josh Warrington (31-3-1, 8 KOs), says they are still ready for a fight against the WBA featherweight title holder Leigh Wood (28-3, 17 KOs).
"We're disappointed that it's taken so long, but we've been told that the fight at 'City Ground' won't happen. Obviously, we're still open to fighting Wood.
Josh really wants to set a record, but it's been 4 months since the fight against Wood was supposed to happen, and we need to make decisions quickly. Josh wants to fight, so now we're also looking at other opportunities," said Steve Wood.
It's worth noting that Matchroom hoped to hold the Warrington vs. Wood fight on May 18 at 'City Ground'. However, issues with finalizing the venue led to a delay in the matchup.
