Frank Warren, promoter of IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois and head of Queensberry Promotions, has confirmed discussions with the team of two-time undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.
"Daniel is the IBF world champion. His last fight was a voluntary title defense. Now, I’ll meet with Daniel next week, and we’ll decide on the next steps.
Usyk’s team has made their stance clear. I met with them—had a brief talk with Krassyuk and Klimas—they want this fight. And why wouldn’t we want it? All four belts are on the line, there’s massive buzz after the last fight, and all the debates surrounding it.
Since then, Daniel—who has never shied away from a challenge—just look at the fighters he’s faced, always coming in as the underdog. He wants this fight. That’s why he took the Parker fight, to earn this shot. After all, Usyk wasn’t planning to fight until late summer or fall," Warren stated.
In 2023, Usyk stopped Dubois in the ninth round. Since then, Dubois has knocked out three opponents in a row but withdrew from his scheduled February 20 bout against Joseph Parker due to illness.
