Warren Demands "Very Strong" Referee for Fury vs. Usyk Bout

Frank Warren, head of Queensberry Promotions and promoter of WBC super heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), is demanding a "very strong" referee for his client's fight with the holder of the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO titles, Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).

"We do not want any controversies. We need someone who everyone respects and who will be very, very strong. In the last fight (Usyk vs. Dubois), the referee was simply laughable. It was all completely ridiculous. Whether it was a low blow or not, he gave him time, and then, when he wanted to fight, he said, 'No, take more time out.' I'm sure they plan to use all their tricks. That’s what will happen, but Tyson is an experienced professional, an experienced warrior, and he knows what he needs to do," said Warren. The bout for the undisputed world super heavyweight title between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is scheduled for May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
