British heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley (18-0-1, 17 KOs) has shared his thoughts on a potential fight against American former world champion Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs).
“Yes, I would do it. It’s an interesting name that I’ve seen mentioned in discussions on Twitter and other platforms, but I would jump at the chance to fight and test myself without hesitation.
I confidently back myself because, ultimately, it will be a battle of punches—who lands first and more accurately. From a boxing intelligence perspective and entering the fight, I’m proving that I’m developing.
I’m gaining more experience and knowledge—both about my opponent and myself. Having Ben Davison’s mother in my corner, who already has experience against Wilder, is a huge advantage,” said Wardley to Box Nation.
On October 12, Wardley knocked out Frazer Clarke (8-1-1, 6 KOs) in the first round. In June, Deontay Wilder lost to Zhang Zhilei (27-2-1, 22 KOs) by technical knockout in the 5th round.
