Wardley: «Usyk Works on the Brink of Robotization»

Briton Fabio Wardley (17-0-1, 16 KOs), British heavyweight champion and former sparring partner of Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, shared his perspective on the advantage in the upcoming fight.

«I’ve sparred against both. I sparred with Usyk much more, while with Fury, maybe once or twice. Overall, I spent about eight weeks in Ukraine sparring with Usyk. But that was a long time ago, back when he was fighting Tony Bellew. Another time was just after he moved up to heavyweight.

In terms of mentality, I think Usyk can be very focused. Almost on the brink of robotization, like: "I know my job and I know what I need to do to get it done. This outside noise and chatter don’t matter. I am focused on my work."

Whereas Fury is almost the opposite of that. He wants the noise and chatter, and that has a negative effect. Sometimes it can have a negative impact, and things can go wrong. He got a cut in camp, and that messed up his camp. Did that stop him?

Was he more cautious in his sparring, so he’s not as sharp and crisp as he used to be? There are question marks everywhere,» Wardley said.

The fight between Usyk and Fury will take place on May 18 in Saudi Arabia.
