Interim WBO heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley spoke about the experience of sparring with the undisputed champion of the division, Oleksandr Usyk, several years ago.
“I rate it very highly — even back then. Especially at that stage of my career, it was incredible for me. It looked like real magic in motion.
We’d finish sparring, and then he would go and do all these drills and training elements. I would just sit there and watch. Trying to understand what was what — just sitting and observing,” Wardley told First Round TV.
On October 25, Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) defeated Joseph Parker by technical knockout in the 11th round. The WBO has mandated Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) to defend his title against the winner of that bout.
