Ward: "Confident I Could Beat Joshua"

In an interview with TalkSPORT, former boxer Andre Ward commented on a hypothetical match against Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs).

"Moving up to heavyweight was something that was constantly talked about as my career was winding down. If I had continued fighting, there would have been no doubt in my mind. I had nothing left to prove at light heavyweight.

If I had stayed, I would have moved up to heavyweight and targeted Tony Bellew. I know he would have accepted that fight. If I felt comfortable in that division, I would have gone after Anthony Joshua. I'm confident I could have beaten Joshua, despite the size difference.

It's no disrespect to Joshua, but I just feel what I feel," said Ward.

Andre Ward retired from professional boxing in 2017, leaving the sport undefeated. The American's career record stands at 32-0, with 16 KOs.
