Verde Knocks Out Akale on Canelo–Crawford Undercard

On September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the opening prelim bout of the Saul Alvarez vs Terence Crawford card featured 23-year-old Mexican Olympic silver medalist Marco Verde (3-0, 2 KOs) against 37-year-old American Sona Akale (9-4, 4 KOs).

The fight was halted by the referee in the 4th round after a series of clean shots from Verde — victory by TKO 4. In the first round, Marco dropped his opponent. Akale protested after the referee waved the fight off.

For Verde, who debuted in 2025, this was already his third fight of the year.
