The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has officially confirmed that the bout between Oscar Valdez (31-2, 23 KOs) and Liam Wilson (13-2, 7 KOs) will be for the WBO "interim" super featherweight title (up to 58,9 kg).
The fight is scheduled for March 29 in Glendale, USA.
This means the winner will likely be elevated to the status of full WBO world champion if Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs) decides to stay at lightweight.
Oscar Valdez last fought in August of the previous year, facing Navarrete. The fight concluded with a unanimous decision victory for Emanuel. Liam Wilson defeated Jackson England (15-3, 8 KOs) by unanimous decision in December.
Emanuel Navarrete is set to face Denys Berinchyk (18-0, 9 KOs) on May 18, with the vacant WBO lightweight title (up to 61,2 kg) on the line.
