Following his victory over Liam Wilson (13-3, 7 KOs), the WBO "interim" champion at junior lightweight (up to 58,96 kg), Oscar Valdes (32-2, 24 KOs), expressed his desire for a unification bout.
"I have nothing but respect for Foster (WBC) and Lopez (IBF). I would also like to have a rematch against Navarrete (WBO).
Nothing personal, just that the best want to fight the best. Let's bring back old-school boxing. I don't care who it will be. I'm ready to fight anyone. I want a unification fight. I want to leave a significant legacy.
I have yet to accomplish anything in the sport. If I retired today, I would have achieved nothing. I haven't done that. I'm still hungry. I want to be one of the greats," Valdes said.
The event took place on March 30 at the Desert Diamond Arena, in Glendale, USA, with the main event being the fight for the WBO "interim" junior lightweight championship between Mexican Oscar Valdes and Australian Liam Wilson. The fight concluded with Valdes winning by technical knockout in the 7th round.
