The world champion according to the WBC, the undefeated British boxer Tyson Fury, who by the end of the year will surely fight with the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk for the title of absolute champion in super heavy weight, has lost his cousin, reports The Sun.
The 31-year-old relative of the boxing legend - Rico Barton - was killed around three o'clock in the morning with a knife in the neck outside a bar in Manchester, where he went with friends after watching the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua at another venue. According to the British media, the man had a conflict with the visitors of the bar, which turned into a fight. Together with Fury's relative, a 17-year-old boy was stabbed.
Both victims were taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary, where Burton died from his injuries. The teenager is in serious condition, but there is no threat to his life.
It is reported that the police arrested two male suspects in hot pursuit. Liam O'Prey, 21, of no fixed abode, has already been charged with murder. His 20-year-old accomplice was released on bail.
“My cousin was killed last night with a knife in the neck. It gets funny when idiots carry knives. This needs to stop as soon as possible. Life is so precious and it can be taken away very quickly, enjoy every moment. Rest in peace, Rico, may the Lord God grant you a good place in heaven.
The UK government needs to increase the penalties for knife crime. It's a pandemic and you won't know how bad it is until it happens to you!" Tyson Fury wrote on Instagram, adding a call to Stop knife crime.
