German heavyweight Emanuel Odiase (2-0, 1 KO), who served as Oleksandr Usyk's sparring partner ahead of his last two fights, spoke about Usyk's (21-0, 14 KOs) fight against Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and the Briton's cut.
"The atmosphere in Usyk's camp was fantastic. Everyone was in a good mood, and Oleksandr looked very well prepared. I spent over 60 rounds sparring with Oleksandr, learned a lot from him in and out of the ring.
What I learned most from Usyk is that if you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything. You need to believe in yourself, in God, and have discipline.
I think May 18th is a pretty early date for the Fury-Usyk fight, considering the cut Tyson received. If the fight goes ahead, the chance that Usyk's punch will reopen the cut is very high.
If I'm invited back to the Ukrainian's camp, I would gladly help him again. In this camp, I helped him, and he helped me. I like this kind of cooperation; I think helping each other is the right thing to do," said Odiase.
The Usyk-Fury fight was postponed from February 17th to May 18th due to the Briton's cut, which was received in sparring.
