Usyk's promoter explains why he insisted on the rematch clause with Fury

The general director of the promotion company K2 Promotions, Alex Krassyuk, explained why the team of the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) insisted on a rematch clause during negotiations for a fight against the WBC belt holder, Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KO).

“If you ask Warren why they put rematches in most contracts, he’ll tell you anything can happen in the ring. Remember Daniel Dubois’ last fight. He was injured, he injured his knee. He could lose. It is very lucky that he rallied and won the fight. But Dubois could lose."

"That is, the rematch clause gives you the opportunity to hedge your risk. It is a matter of common sense. You must ascertain the risk. When you fight in England, in the home of the WBC champion, you can rob the judges. I’m not saying it’s bound to happen, but we’ve seen it in the past. It’s just an experience, and we have to guess at it,” Krassyuk said in an interview with YouTube channel iFL TV.

According to rumors, there is disagreement between the parties regarding the distribution of fees for a potential rematch, despite the fact that the fight was scheduled to take place on April 29th and Usyk was already in preparation for it.
