Usyk vs. Fury Won't Happen on December 23, As Confirmed by Frank Warren

Frank Warren, promoter of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has announced that the previously scheduled date for the showdown for the undisputed championship against Oleksandr Usyk on December 23 will not be happening on that date. The promoter explained why the fight for the undisputed title is not possible in that timeframe.

"I still think the fight with Francis was a terrific event. It was an exciting match. It didn't turn out the way I expected, but it was an exciting battle. Ngannou really took a beating; he's a tough, strong guy. People thought it would be a formality, but you never know what will happen in the ring when you have two big guys in there. He achieved a lot that evening.

Tyson did what he always does - he won. I think Ngannou won at best three rounds, but the rest of the fight belonged to Tyson. Looking ahead, I hope a date for the next fight will be scheduled soon, as soon as Tyson feels ready.

The fight with Ngannou was one of the toughest in recent times. Certainly tougher than the one against Dillian Whyte. So, right now, we're not talking about the Usyk fight on December 23. He won't be ready. It was a tough battle. He will take a timeout to recover; it takes time to get back into the camp, which will be after 5-6 months of training. So, there won't be a chance to make it happen," Warren said in an interview with Boxing King Media.

Tyson Fury defeated Francis Ngannou by a split decision of the judges. Following this, Fury had a staredown with Usyk, with whom they already have a contract for a fight, but the date for the bout has not been announced.
