Usyk vs Dubois: Key Takeaways from the Press Conference

On July 10th, Warsaw, Poland, played host to the initial press conference of the upcoming match between Ukrainian boxing sensation and reigning IBF, WBA Super, and WBO world champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), and his challenger, Britain's Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs).

Alex Krassyuk, the influential Ukrainian boxing promoter and CEO of K2 Promotions Ukraine, inaugurated the press conference by reflecting on his proposition to his peer Andrzej Wasilewski, about staging a monumental event in Poland. Wasilewski humorously termed this idea as "crazy", yet, he not only backed it but also contributed enthusiastically to turning this audacious plan into reality.

The mood was electric as luminaries such as Alex Krassyuk, Egis Klimas, Oleksandr Usyk, Sergey Lapin, and British boxer Daniel Dubois, alongside his trainer Don Charles, took to the stage. The Marriott Hotel's conference hall was brimming with anticipation, infused with the palpable buzz that comes with a major sporting event on the horizon.

This crucial gathering was organized to officially declare the showdown between Oleksandr Usyk, the world champion holding the IBF, WBA Super, and WBO titles, and his mandatory challenger from Great Britain, Daniel Dubois.

"First of all, I want to thank the guys who are currently protecting our country, because thanks to them we can perform abroad and give them a little emotional joy. ZSU," the champion initiated his speech.

"We are both professional boxers and I think it will be a great fight. I am ready for this fight and I am sure Daniel is also ready. It is an important fight for both of us. For me it is a chance to come back to Poland again and perform in front of my fans. It's a great opportunity for Daniel to take my titles. But I'm not going to let him do it," Usyk said.

Egis Klimas affirmed his faith in his fighter, stressing that the encounter with Dubois will be no cakewalk, but Usyk's team is braced for this challenge.

All press conference attendees agreed that this match promises to be one of the most eagerly awaited of the year. Not just because it's a title fight across three of the most esteemed boxing organizations in the world, but also due to the immense talent and extraordinary boxing prowess of both fighters.
