On 19 July at Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom, 38‑year‑old Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (24‑0, 15 KOs) met 27‑year‑old Briton Daniel Dubois (22‑3, 21 KOs) in a rematch with the undisputed heavyweight crown (> 90.7 kg) on the line.
Both men arrived in superb form: since stopping Dubois in August 2023, Usyk had twice vanquished Tyson Fury, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years. Dubois, for his part, rattled off three knockouts over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgović, and Anthony Joshua.
The sequel proved brutal and brief. In round five Usyk floored Dubois; the Brit beat the count but was finished moments later—KO 5.
Oleksandr Usyk is now an undisputed champion for the third time in his career: cruiserweight in July 2018, heavyweight in May 2024, and once again on this historic July night at Wembley.
