Usyk – Third in History to Become Undisputed Champion in Two Divisions

On the night of May 19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk defeated Briton Tyson Fury to become the undisputed heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg).

Usyk is the first undisputed heavyweight champion since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in a rematch. Additionally, Usyk is the third fighter in history to become the undisputed champion in two weight divisions. Previously, the Ukrainian achieved undisputed status in the cruiserweight division (up to 90.7 kg).

Alongside Usyk, only Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue have become undisputed champions in two weight categories.

The Usyk vs. Fury fight lasted all 12 rounds and ended with Usyk's victory by split decision. The judges' scores were: 115-112 (Usyk), 114-113 (Fury), and 114-113 (Usyk).
