The head of K2 Promotions and CBDO of Ready To Fight, Alexander Krassyuk, shared what their team plans to do with the IBF belt held by Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs). It was previously reported that the belt might be declared vacant because Usyk has to have a rematch against Tyson Fury, and mandatory rematch clauses in contracts are not favored by the IBF.
«Of course, we will be asking the IBF for an exception,» said Krassyuk.
President of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Daryl Peoples, mentioned that any reigning champion can request an exception to any rule. He also shared how the Federation will proceed in case such a request is made.
