Usyk Team Member Explains Why He Didn't Retaliate Against Fury

Participants in the conflict between the teams of WBC heavyweight (over 90,7 kg) champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and the holder of the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO titles, Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), commented on the situation in which Tyson’s father, John Fury, headbutted Stanislav Stepchuk.

"I offer my sincere apologies to everyone involved. We are who we are. Emotions and tensions are running high.

This guy showed disrespect. If you step into the space of a fighting man, you're going to get something. Respect for my son isimportant to me, and he didn't show it.

He mentioned my son, so he deserved what he got. The cut doesn’t bother me – this is what we live for, we fight people. For me, it's business as usual," John Fury stated.

"I was just supporting our team. We were only shouting: 'Usyk, Usyk', I didn't touch him. He went crazy…

Did I want to hit him? Yes, but because of the age difference, it wouldn’t have been very fair… He shouldn't be looking for a real fight because he might have a heart attack and end up in an ambulance," Stepchuk commented.

The fight for the undisputed heavyweight world championship between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is scheduled for May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
