Former undisputed heavyweight world champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) shared when he realized he could win the bout against Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).
According to Usyk, this realization came in the sixth round when the Ukrainian managed to stay on his feet after a powerful uppercut from the Brit.
"When in the sixth round I didn't fall from the uppercut and felt such strength behind me, I realized that my strength, to which I turn in prayer, was with me.
Maybe it was an angel, but I felt some support in my back. Although there was no one there, that support was tangible," Usyk said.
To recap, on May 18, Oleksandr Usyk won by a split decision against Tyson Fury, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years. The rematch between the boxers is scheduled for December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
