Usyk Reveals the Iconic Boxing Style He Sought to Emulate Early in His Career

The current holder of the WBA, WBO, and IBF super heavyweight world champion titles, Oleksandr Usyk, has opened up about his formative years in boxing. Interestingly, the Ukrainian fighter sought to mirror the fighting style of the famed British boxer, Naseem Hamed, when he first stepped into the ring.

Usyk candidly admitted, "When we were amateurs, we copied his movements. In the gym, they put pressure on us and didn't allow us to do it. The coaches said that we lose focus and concentration. However, I continued to do it even during the competition," during an interview with BT Sport Boxing.

On another note, fans eagerly anticipate Oleksandr Usyk's next bout, which is slated for August 26 at the Tarczyński Arena in Wroclaw, Poland. Here, he will cross gloves with Daniel Dubois. Usyk has every intention of maintaining his successful trajectory and solidifying his position as one of the most formidable fighters in his weight category on a global scale.
