Undisputed Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBO) has reacted to Vasyl Lomachenko’s decision to leave professional boxing.
“Thank you for your path, your devotion, your greatness. You are one of the most exceptional athletes the sports world has ever seen—not just in boxing, but in sport as a whole.
Your amateur legacy is unmatched: two Olympic gold medals, nearly 400 wins, a master of movement, timing, and precision.
And in the professional ring you made history again—becoming a three-division world champion, doing what many thought impossible, and doing it with style, dignity, and intelligence.
You inspired millions. You changed the game. You set a new standard. I’m proud to call you my friend, teammate, brother.
Your legacy will live on for many, many years—in fighters’ hearts, in fans’ memories, on the pages of boxing history. Congratulations on a legendary career,” Usyk wrote.
The 37-year-old Lomachenko last fought on 12 May 2024, stopping George Kambosos by technical knockout to capture the IBF Lightweight title.
