On May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the first undisputed heavyweight championship fight (over 90.7 kg) since 1999 will take place between WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO titleholder Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs).
Former world champion and current boxing commentator Johnny Nelson shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight, revealing that he spoke with three of Usyk's sparring partners, who offered insight into the Ukrainian boxer's performance.
"Speed leads to power — both fighters can certainly win by knockout. I know Usyk had five sparring partners from heavyweight boxers. I spoke to three of them. They said Usyk gets stronger during the rounds and handled all five fighters well.
Tyson is a fighter. Once the bell rings, he'll try everything he can get away with until the referee tells him to stop. He'll use every dirty trick he can get away with, without a doubt," Nelson said.
