First Press Conference of Usyk and Fury Before the Rematch: Insights from the Champion, Lapin, Krassyuk, and Klimas

On October 23 in London, UK, the first press conference took place for the rematch between WBC, WBO, WBA, and The Ring heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Usyk shared what motivates him ahead of the second bout:

"I’m happy to be here. What’s my motivation? I have no motivation; only my routine and focus are my motivation. That’s enough," said Usyk.

Usyk's manager, Egis Klimas, addressed the online spat with Tyson Fury:

"Everything is good between us and Fury. We’re professional boxers, professional managers, professional promoters; we need to promote the fight. Sometimes we cross the line and start messing with each other. We can’t do anything about it. This is the sport; it’s the entertainment we’re in. Nothing new," Klimas said.

Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, subtly wished victory for his fighter:

"After we got to see the fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship between the two best athletes in the world—a tremendous luck, a phenomenon—to see them fight for the second time in a row is almost a miracle. I thank His Excellency Turki Alalshikh for making the fans' dreams a reality. I hope both fighters come out of their camps healthy, prepared, and ready for the fight. May the best man win. Again," Krassyuk said.

And Usyk's team CEO, Serhii Lapin, promised that we would see a new Oleksandr:

"We’ve analyzed nearly every action and done the hard work. On December 21, we will see a new tactical, technical, and physical style," Lapin said.

The rematch between Usyk and Fury is scheduled for December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
