Usyk explained what motivates him in boxing

Oleksandr Usyk, the reigning WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO World Super Heavyweight Champion, recently shared his motivational sources for entering the ring. He drew inspiration from the courageous Ukrainian warriors who are bravely fighting against the Russian occupiers.

"I box for everyone who is currently defending our country and in memory of those soldiers who are no longer with us. Also for all those who want to be free and who stood for their country against those who came to conquer us," said Oleksandr.

In a recent announcement, Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian boxing sensation, shared his plans to raise funds for the reconstruction of an apartment building in Irpen that was destroyed by the Russian army. Usyk himself pledged an impressive amount of 8 million hryvnias and aims to collect an additional 4 million. However, according to his promoter, Alex Krassyuk, Usyk's generosity has far exceeded this already substantial donation, as he has given much more to the reconstruction of other Ukrainian cities destroyed by the Russian army.

To further support his homeland, Usyk's charitable fund collaborated with the QMALL cryptocurrency exchange to hold an auction, which raised a total of 500 thousand hryvnias. The entirety of this amount will be donated towards humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

Amidst his philanthropic efforts, Usyk is also gearing up for an exciting match against WBC belt holder Tyson Fury, which will determine the absolute world champion. The two boxers plan to go head-to-head on April 29th at Wembley Stadium in London. While there have been talks of relocating the match to Saudi Arabia, promoter Eddie Hearn remains hopeful that the fight will still take place in London.

However, if negotiations for the unification fight between Usyk and Fury do not reach a satisfactory conclusion soon, Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, has stated that he will explore other options for his client. Additionally, there seems to be a disagreement between the two sides regarding the distribution of the fee, with Fury's father insisting on a 60 to 40 split in his son's favor, while the Ukrainian camp is pushing for a 50 to 50 split.
