Russ Anber, the cutman for WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), shared his thoughts on his client’s upcoming fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), which will take place on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
- Your opinion on Tyson’s weight loss? Will it be an advantage for him?
- I’m starting to think it won’t be an advantage because Tyson’s advantage used to be his massive size and bulk, but now he’s become smaller, the same size as Usyk. I think this should play in Oleksandr’s favor.
- Will Tyson be quicker on his feet?
- I don’t know if his speed will increase, but I think he’ll feel better without the extra weight. He knows that Usyk is incredibly fast on his feet, moving not like a heavyweight, but like a middleweight.
The fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will have the first undisputed heavyweight champion title on the line since 1999.
