Usyk Claims Top Spot in Heavyweight Rankings by The Ring Magazine

WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO super heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has secured the top position in The Ring magazine's heavyweight boxing rankings. Trailing the Ukrainian are current WBC belt holder Tyson Fury and former world champion Deontay Wilder, with Filip Hrgovic rounding out the top 10.

Usyk was scheduled to face Fury in a unification bout at London's Wembley Stadium on April 29th, but the fight was called off. Usyk's manager, Egis Klimas, stated that Tyson's team made excessive demands despite Usyk's willingness to compromise. Promoter Bob Arum suggested the Usyk-Fury showdown could potentially take place in Saudi Arabia in November or December.

Among Usyk's possible future opponents are 39-year-old interim WBO champion Zhang Zhilei and Croatian boxer Filip Hrgovic. Notably, the WBA has mandated that Usyk defend his title against Daniel Dubois, setting a 30-day deadline for finalizing the fight details. Usyk has indicated his intention to face the British contender in late summer.
