Usyk and Fury canceled the fight negotiations

According to ESPN, negotiations between Oleksandr Usyk's and Tyson Fury's teams for a fight to determine the absolute heavyweight world champion have ceased.

Egis Klimas, the manager of the Ukrainian fighter, stated that Usyk has shifted his attention to mandatory contenders and has abandoned hope of unifying the titles in a bout against the "Gypsy King."

"Just got off the horn with Egis Klimas, he says that team Usyk is moving off the Fury fight for April 29th, and will now pursue their mandatory obligations. "No matter how much Usyk compromised, he was pushed for more." They hope to have him back in June/July," journalist Steve Kim said on his Twitter page.

Egis Klimas, the manager of Oleksandr Usyk, declared in March that Usyk's team was prepared to reject a showdown with Tyson Fury unless the fight was officially confirmed for April 29th. "We are outsiders, but we cannot agree to everything they [in the British camp] throw at us," said Klimas.

The highly anticipated fight between the two heavyweight boxers was expected to occur at London's Wembley Arena in the spring, with the chance to compete for four titles. Additionally, the fee distribution between the fighters had been agreed upon: Fury would earn 70% of the purse, while Usyk would receive 30%.

However, the WBA intervened, as they were the organization that held Usyk's belt. They mandated that signed contracts for the bout needed to be submitted by the boxers no later than April 1st. Failure to do so would result in Usyk being obligated to face his mandatory challenger on the WBA line, the British fighter Daniel Dubois.

Why did the negotiations break down?

Mike Coppinger of ESPN reports that the only notable aspect of the deal that Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury's representatives were able to reach an agreement on was the fee distribution.

Simultaneously, Usyk's manager claims that the English WBC titleholder continued to impose new conditions on his opponent.

"Regardless of the compromises Usyk offered, he was still pushed to concede even more," Klimas declared.

Consequently, Usyk has already cancelled his training camp, which he had arranged to prepare for the fight with Fury. In the immediate future, the Ukrainian's team will begin to strategize for his next bout, most likely scheduled for June or July, against the mandatory challenger, Dubois.
