On Saturday, August 20, the second battle between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua will take place.
On the eve of the rematch, on Tuesday, August 19, the ceremony of weighing the boxers and the last duel of looks took place.
After the weigh-in ceremony, the boxers had a final duel of looks before the rematch. The boxers looked into each other's eyes for a long time, and the British promoter Eddie Hearn tried to intervene again.
However, Anthony could no longer stand Alexander's sharp gaze, averting his first eyes.
The undefeated boxer attended the weigh-in ceremony in national Ukrainian clothes: an embroidered jacket and harem pants.
At the weigh-in before the first fight, in September 2021, Oleksandr Usyk weighed 100 kilograms, Anthony Joshua weighed 109 kilograms. However, this is not the case, Alexander weighed 100.1 kilograms on the scales, and Anthony weighed 110.9 kilograms.
Why is the weighing procedure carried out?
The weighing procedure is mandatory before every boxing match. It is carried out in order to probably find out whether the athlete fits into the limit of the weight category in which he competes.
Weighing is carried out a day before the fight so that the water-salt balance of the body is restored, and the boxers themselves have time to sleep and eat. So that at the moment of the match, every athlete from a physiological point of view was in maximum working condition.
In the case of super heavyweights, only an athlete's underweight is possible when one of the boxers weighs less than 91 kilograms. There is no upper limit as such.
