Undercard Gervonta-Loma: Janibek and Adames in Negotiations

On July 13 in Las Vegas, USA, a fight was supposed to take place between WBO and IBF middleweight champion (up to 72.5 kg) Janibek Alimkhanuly (15-0, 10 KOs) and Andrey Mikhaylovich (21-0, 13 KOs). However, the bout was canceled due to Janibek's hospitalization.

WBC titleholder Dominican Carlos Adames (24-1, 18 KOs), who has long desired a bout with Alimkhanuly, wished his colleague a speedy recovery and expressed hope that they would meet this year on the undercard of the fight between WBA lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) and IBF titleholder Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs).

"I hope he recovers soon. After his return, I hope we fight on the undercard of Gervonta-Lomachenko in November. Three titles on the line," Adames tweeted.

Later, the Kazakhstani fighter reported that he is feeling well, will return to training soon, and does not plan to change weight classes, sparking a new Twitter feud between the fighters.

Janibek: "Adames and Lara, don't rush to celebrate. I will fight in middleweight and collect all four titles!"

Adames: "I'm not celebrating others' misfortunes. I don't care what division you fight in. You can move up to heavyweight, and I'll follow to shut your mouth. Talk to your promoter, Davis-Lomachenko fight night. Choose any weight you want."

Janibek: "Everyone knows you're a coward. Why do you always say for me to talk to my promoter? Don't you have your own? Talk to your promoter and send me the contract."

Before the Alimkhanuly-Mikhaylovich fight, Top Rank founder and head Bob Arum mentioned that Adames is one of the options for Janibek.

"It's hard to get other champions to fight Janibek, but if he's successful in this bout, we'll try to arrange a fight with Adames or Lara. There are also several fighters in England, like Eubank Jr. or Shiraz. I don't believe it's impossible to find a worthy opponent for him. It's ridiculous. He just doesn't have the right people around him, like other top middleweights I've been fortunate to promote," Arum told FightHype.com.
