Unbeaten Fight: WBA Calls for Bidding for Stanionis Title Defense

WBA world welterweight champion Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) from Lithuania and official challenger Shakhram Giyasov from Uzbekistan (16-0, 9 KOs) are set to enter promotional bidding. This was announced by the World Boxing Association (WBA).

The parties were unable to reach an agreement for the fight, so promotional bidding will take place on November 8. The minimum bid is set at $150,000, with the split favoring the champion at 75/25.

Stanionis became the full champion after Terence Crawford moved up to the next weight class. Eimantas has not fought since May when he won a unanimous decision against Gabriel Maestre.

Olympic silver medalist Giyasov secured a split decision victory over Miguel Parra on July 31.
