Wilder Bypasses DuBois, Eyes Usyk Instead: Manager's Confirmation

Manager Shelly Finkel has confirmed that former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder would be ready to square off against Oleksandr Usyk, should a proposed bout with Daniel Dubois fail to materialize.

Finkel, who manages Wilder, relayed that the team has declined a match with official contender Daniel DuBois, instead expressing a preference for a face-off with Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk.

Recent reports suggest that if DuBois is unable to confront Usyk due to injury or other reasons, Wilder, also known as the "Bronze Bomber", could step in as the mandatory challenger for the WBA belt. In this scenario, Wilder and his team have expressed interest in a bout with Usyk.

In a statement to Sky Sports, Finkel confirmed this interest, saying, "If Deontay was offered a fight against Oleksandr Usyk, of course we would be interested." This suggests that Wilder and his team view Usyk as a desirable opponent and are prepared to step into the ring with him.

Boxing enthusiasts now eagerly anticipate an official announcement regarding the next steps and the potential match-up between Wilder and Usyk. Only time will reveal whether this highly anticipated bout will indeed take place.
