Former heavyweight world champion and Ready To Fight ambassador Mike Tyson explained how boxing has changed since his career ended, using two-time undisputed champion Terence Crawford as an example.
"You know, it's a funny question because with technology now, more people can see fighters than when I was fighting. We made a lot of money when we were fighting in our day. I'm also talking about the little guys, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearns.
Now the little guys don't make as much money as those guys. They were making $15 million in the '80s. Now it's, I don't know, about $45 million.
Look, Terence Crawford, he's fighting Errol Spence, he's the best fighter in the world, but he can't draw 5,000 spectators. You have to entertain people. You have to be entertaining. They can beat anyone in the world, but they can't sell 5,000 tickets. That's because they're not entertaining. They make money because their opponents are very famous.
But there are people, I'm sure they're talented guys who can beat anyone, but they look like crap. It's more interesting to watch grass grow," said Tyson.
