On December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the highly anticipated rematch took place between WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) and former champion Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs).
Usyk won by unanimous decision, and a disappointed Fury left the ring immediately after the result was announced. Camera operators captured his walk to the locker room, where he and his team reacted to the defeat.
“All the professionals, Oscar De La Hoya, said he beat me by four rounds. That’s the truth,” Fury said.
“The score can’t be 116-112,” a member of Fury’s team objected.
“If that’s the case, it’s completely hopeless. Every damn round [indistinct]… It was a straight-up robbery. F*** them. What do you think, Ben? Be honest,” Fury asked his former trainer, Ben Davison.
“I think it was a very close fight. Honestly, I thought you won,” Davison replied.
“I swear, I thought I won by at least three rounds. I controlled the fight, made him work, and all the rest of it. F**k it all. I’m telling you, we won’t get anything in this country,” Fury said.
In 2024, Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury fought twice in Riyadh, and on both occasions, the Ukrainian emerged victorious by judges’ decision.
