Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has named the two most promising rising stars in the division. In his view, the top heavyweight prospects are Moses Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs), the WBO Inter-Continental and WBA International champion from the UK, and Jared Anderson (18-1, 15 KOs) from the United States.
“Best prospect in the heavyweight division? I’d say Moses Itauma. Also, Jared Anderson — if he can get back to his old form. It won’t be easy, no. There are a lot of obstacles in the way for these kids.
You can’t just be talented, know how to fight, and be strong and powerful. That’s only a small part of what makes a complete fighter. You need the right people around you. You have to be in the right place at the right time and get the right fights. It’s a very complicated chess game.
Is it easier to build a great career now? If you’re talented enough, and you truly want it, and you have the right people in the right place at the right time — then the rest is fate. In that case, I think it’s the same as it’s always been,” Fury said.
For context, on May 24, Moses Itauma stopped Mike Balogun via second-round TKO. Meanwhile, in February, Jared Anderson rebounded from his loss to Martin Bakole by earning a unanimous decision win over Marios Kollias.
