Teofimo Lopez wants to become the absolute champion in 140 pounds by the end of 2023

Former lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez has his sights set on winning the premier welterweight title by the end of 2023. The American claims that the fight with the Spaniard Sandor Martin does not reflect his readiness for opponents of the highest level.

"Next time I will fight for the title of world champion. I'm trying to come back in April and do three fights next year. So I'm looking forward to becoming the only world champion by the end of [next] year at 140 pounds.”

"Martin didn't come to fight, all he did was just run." Every time he went into the corner, he would dive and clinch. The guy didn't come to the ring to win, he didn't try."

"Every boxer who tried to come and fight me was beaten and thrown away. With anyone who boxes, we find different ways to win. What Sandor Martin was doing wasn't boxing either. All he did was run away."

Теофимо Лопес: «До конца года я стану абсолютным чемпионом»

In the last fight, Lopez defeated the Spaniard Sandor Martin and won the title of WBO international champion in the first welterweight. Teofimo even found himself knocked down in the second round, but eventually managed to win by split decision.
