Turki: "We Don't Want to Take London's or Las Vegas's Place"

Turki Alalshikh, head of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, addressed concerns about the detrimental impact of hosting major boxing matches in Saudi Arabia on British boxing.

"There are some points that I agree with and can understand. Of course, you want big fights in your country, and I get that. But boxing has a lot of problems, and we want you, all the people and fans, to understand what we are doing. That's why we invite you to these events.

We don't want to take London's or Las Vegas's place, but we want to put our city on the map, and that's our right. I want you to support us. Sometimes it worries me when people say that sports are washing money and why events are happening in Riyadh.

Why not hold them in Riyadh? Is it not our right? We organize them with good ticket prices and pay-per-view fees," said Alalshikh.

On June 1, a tournament between Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry Promotions will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event will feature fighters such as Deontay Wilder, Zhang Zhilei, Filip Hrgović, Daniel Dubois, Raymond Ford, Nick Ball, Hamzah Sheeraz, Austin Williams, and others.
