Turki Offered Benavidez a Fight with Crawford

The "interim" WBC super middleweight champion (up to 76,2 kg) David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) disclosed that the organizer of boxing tournaments in Saudi Arabia, Turki Al al-Sheikh, had offered him a showdown against the WBA, WBO, and WBC welterweight (up to 66,7 kg) champion Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs).

For this, Benavidez would have needed to drop to the middleweight limit (up to 72,6 kg).

"Turki offered me to drop to 160 pounds (72.6 kg) to fight Crawford. I said, 'Bro, I can't do that.'

Of course, if I could make 160 pounds – that would be wonderful. But I can't. I can't even remember the last time I was that weight," Benavidez explained.

David is scheduled to fight on June 15 for the light heavyweight title (up to 79,4 kg) against Oleksandr Gvozdyk. Crawford's next fight will take place at the junior middleweight limit (up to 69,85 kg) against Israil Madrimov.
