The head of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, Turki Al ash-Sheikh, spoke about organizing a potential fight between former undisputed world champions Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) and American Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs).
"I will make Canelo an offer that I consider fair. If he accepts it, he will deal with me to finalize the agreement. I don't want any other intermediaries.
I guaranteed Crawford a big fight, and I want it to be Canelo, as does Crawford. But if Canelo's demands are outrageous, I will still guarantee Crawford any fight he wants," said Turki.
Saul Alvarez last fought in May against Jaime Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs), winning by unanimous decision. His next fight is scheduled for September 14 in Las Vegas, USA, against Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs).
Terence Crawford has not fought since July last year when he defeated Errol Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) by technical knockout. Crawford's next opponent will be Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs), with whom he will face off on August 3 in Los Angeles, USA. The bout will have the WBA title in the junior middleweight division (up to 69.9 kg), held by Madrimov, and the interim WBO champion belt on the line.
Recently, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) announced that Alvarez no longer holds the IBF title.
