Turki Al-Sheikh Targets Blockbusters

Turki Al-Sheikh, head of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, wants to organize three giant fights featuring the biggest stars in boxing.

Here’s the wishlist:

1. Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), WBC heavyweight champion, against Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) in the United Kingdom.

Fury’s next bout is on May 18 against Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) for the undisputed heavyweight world title. On March 8, Joshua knocked out Francis Ngannou (0-2). Joshua's next opponent is not yet known, but Eddie Hearn hopes it will be for a title fight.

2. Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs), undisputed super middleweight world champion, against Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs), holder of the WBA, WBC, and WBO welterweight titles.

Canelo Alvarez is set to meet fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) on May 4. Crawford remains officially without an opponent, but preliminary information suggests he might face WBA super welterweight champion Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs).

3. The winner of the fight for the undisputed light heavyweight title between Artur Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs), holder of the WBC, WBO, and IBF titles, and WBA and IBO champion Dmitry Bivol (22-0, 11 KOs), against IBF interim super middleweight champion David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs).

Beterbiev and Bivol will meet on June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Benavidez is scheduled to enter the ring against Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs) on June 15 in an eliminator for the WBC light heavyweight title.

These planned mega-fights aim to captivate boxing fans worldwide and position Saudi Arabia as a premier venue for high-stakes, high-profile boxing events.
