WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury believes his bout against WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO titleholder Oleksandr Usyk will be the fight of the century.
"This is the fight of the century. If you remember, the first fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier was hyped as the fight of the century. And before this fight of the century was called another great confrontation in super heavyweight between Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney.
"Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk is the first fight in history for four heavyweight belts. This was not done before. Lennox Lewis was the absolute heavyweight champion of the world, but he did not hold four titles. This is the era of four belts, so this will be the first time that a heavyweight will become the absolute champion with four titles in the fight of the century."
"We are two undefeated champions. I'm a two-time champion and he's a two-time champion in two weight classes. So it's a very interesting fight. The giant will meet with a heavyweight of normal size. But it will also be a matchup of a nimble shulga against a giant who counters, goes forward and does everything. I can do everything he does just as well."
According to the promoter Frank Warren, the match between Usyk and Fury is scheduled for the end of March - the beginning of April. According to promoter Bob Arum, the date and location of the fight should be decided next week.
Warren also said that the match between the Ukrainian and the Briton could include a rematch clause.
And Bob Arum claims that Usyk wants an equal distribution of income between the boxers in the unification fight with Fury.
