Trainer Says Crawford Will Do to Canelo

Brian McIntyre, the trainer of WBA, WBC, and WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs), shared his thoughts on a potential fight between his charge and the undisputed super middleweight world champion Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs).

"A fight with Canelo? Looks like Terence wants it. And Terence will whip his ass. He'll outbox him. Size doesn't matter. Terence has been fighting people bigger than him all his life. We know how to take away your power. How do you take the power away from a puncher? It's all about timing. It would be Crawford – Spence 2. Why does Canelo refuse to fight Crawford? I respect it because you get beaten by a man smaller than you. True boxing fans know that Terence can beat Canelo. Saul might be bigger, but not in height and not in reach. Canelo has a good boxing IQ, but not the insane IQ of Terence," said McIntyre. ESPN KnockOut expert Fernando Barbosa recently talked about a potential fight between Terence Crawford and Sergey Bogachuk (24-1, 23 KOs). Bogachuk is the "interim" WBC super welterweight champion. The full champion in the same version is Sebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs), who will not be able to box for the next six months due to injury. Terence Crawford is looking for options for his debut in a new weight class and wants a title fight. Canelo Alvarez's next fight will be against Jaime Munguia on May 4th in Las Vegas, USA.
