American trainer Jeff Mayweather shared his thoughts on the fight between Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) against the WBC super lightweight (up to 63,5 kg) champion Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs).
Mayweather is convinced that Garcia outsmarted everyone, making the boxing world believe in his own inadequacy, unprofessionalism, and alcohol issues.
"I think Ryan outplayed everyone. He fooled everyone in the boxing world by acting like he was crazy, that he wasn't working, that he wasn't training. And who knows, maybe Devin's camp believed it too. Everyone was just talking about how Garcia shouldn't be fighting.
He even said it himself after the fight ended. You can't be drinking beer at the weigh-in. You just can't do that. Obviously, someone let him do that because they knew he wouldn't have any beer," said Mayweather.
On April 21st, Ryan Garcia defeated Devin Haney. Despite the loss, Devin remains the WBC champion since Ryan did not make the weight limit and was not eligible for the title.
