Turki Al-Asheikh, the head of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, revealed what will happen to the entire undercard of the Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk bout:
"It has been announced that the long-awaited boxing match between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and unified champion Oleksandr Usyk has been postponed. The decision was made after Fury suffered a cut above his right eye during training in Riyadh.
The planned boxing evening in Riyadh on February 17 will be rescheduled for a later date, and tickets will be refunded to the public. Once the medical team assesses the extent of Fury's injury, a clearer picture of the recovery timeline will emerge. At this stage, all parties involved, including ours, will work closely to announce the new date for the bout as soon as possible.
There will be regular updates to keep everyone informed of the latest developments.
Disappointed Fury shared his feelings, expressing his devastation after months of dedicated preparation, resulting in excellent physical shape. He apologized to everyone affected by this event, including his own team, Usyk's team, undercard fighters, fans, and gracious partners from Riyadh. Fury will return to the ring as soon as his injury heals. He aims to provide an unforgettable spectacle for boxing enthusiasts worldwide," said Al-Asheikh.
According to Fury's team, he sustained the cut during sparring with Croatian fighter Agron Smakici (20-2, 18 KOs).
