"The Toughest Fight for Us Isn't Against Fury": Usyk Talks About the Bout for Undisputed Championship

World heavyweight champion in the WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO, and The Ring categories, Oleksandr Usyk, spoke to Sky Sports about his preparation for Tyson Fury and his expectations for the upcoming bout. He also shared whether he thinks this will be his biggest challenge yet...

Sky Sports: Have you thought about the plan for the fight against Tyson Fury?

Usyk: I don't think about that. I still have a tough camp ahead of me. My powerful swims, workouts, runs, sparring – they are incredible. I don't think about Fury at all. If he didn't cross my path here, I wouldn't even think about him.

Sky Sports: Are you ready for mind games from Fury?

Usyk: I am already in his head.

Sky Sports: How so?

Usyk: Ask him. I'm probably dancing and singing there.

Sky Sports: Deontay Wilder is one of the best punchers in the heavyweight division, but he didn't knock out Fury. Can you knock out Fury?

Usyk: We will see on February 17.

Sky Sports: How are you preparing for such a formidable opponent?

Usyk: I won't tell you now. I'll tell, and he will see.

Sky Sports: Will this be the toughest fight of your career?

Usyk: No.

Sky Sports: Why not?

Usyk: We haven't boxed yet.

Sky Sports: Do you think it will become the toughest when it happens?

Usyk: It's just a sport; it's boxing. Right now, for us Ukrainians, and personally for me, the toughest fight is dealing with the enemy that attacked our country.

Sky Sports: How do you manage to focus on your sports career during such emotional times for your country?

Usyk: Because in this way, I help the guys defending our country. There's no need to focus on what you don't own, what you can't control. You need to focus on what you can be the best at, said Usyk.

On February 17, 2024, the showdown between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will take place, vying for the title of the undisputed world champion in the heavyweight division.
