American Heavyweight Calls Out Itauma: “If You Want to Know If He’s Ready for Usyk”

American heavyweight Richard Torrez has declared that he wants to face British prospect Moses Itauma.

“I want the fight with Itauma, and I think it would be a great matchup. If anyone wants to find out whether he’s ready for Usyk – look at me. I’m a southpaw, I apply pressure, and I throw a lot of punches.

I understand that he wants those belts, but we’re both young heavyweights. We’re both active, we’re both ready.

I don’t think he’s the kind of guy who would avoid this fight. And I’m not going to avoid it either. Let’s bring some action.

I know British fans are great boxing fans. The fans in the U.S. will definitely support me too. I think this is a great fight, and it’s one I want to make,” Torrez said.

Richard Torrez (13-0, 11 KOs) last fought in the spring of 2025, defeating Guido Vianello by decision. His next bout is scheduled for November 15, against Tomas Salek in Mexico.

Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) is expected to return to the ring at the start of 2026 – potentially in a title fight.
