Top Rank President Sets Condition for Wilder-Anderson Fight

Todd duBoef, president of the promotional company Top Rank, whose client is American heavyweight (over 90,7 kg) prospect Jared Anderson (17-0, 15 KOs), commented on a potential fight against Deontay Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs).

DuBoef is skeptical about the Anderson-Wilder fight because he doubts Deontay's victory over Zhang Zhilei (26-2-1, 21 KOs).

"Listen, Wilder has a big test ahead against Zhang Zhilei. When I attended the press conference for the 5 vs 5 tournament, I was leaning towards Zhilei. I think it's a tough fight.

Wilder has had some not-so-great results recently, but he is a very dangerous puncher, perhaps one of the most dangerous in the super heavyweight division in the last decade, and he can decide the outcome of the fight with a single punch.

The fight between Anderson and Wilder will happen if Deontay beats Zhilei. After that, Jared can step into the ranks of the next major heavyweights," said duBoef.

The fight between Deontay Wilder and Zhang Zhilei will take place on June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This bout will be part of the 5 vs 5 tournament between the promotional companies Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry Promotions.

On April 13, Jared Anderson won by unanimous decision against Belgian Ryad Merhy (32-3, 26 KOs).
