President of Top Rank, Todd DuBoef, shared his thoughts on WBC flyweight champion Junto Nakatani (29-0, 22 KOs). DuBoef also evaluated the possibility of a bout between Nakatani and the undisputed champion in the super flyweight division (up to 55.3 kg), Naoya Inoue (28-0, 25 KOs).
“I think Nakatani looked fantastic. He is progressing remarkably well. If the fight between him and Naoya Inoue happens, it would make a lot of sense. I can envision that fight taking place in 2025,” said DuBoef.
In September, Inoue defeated T.J. Doheny (26-5, 20 KOs) by technical knockout in the seventh round. On October 14, Nakatani stopped Tasana Salapat (76-2, 53 KOs) by technical knockout in the sixth round.
