Top Rank President Names Fury’s Next Opponent if He Defeats Usyk

Top Rank Boxing President Todd DuBoef, co-promoter of former world champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), shared his thoughts on Fury’s potential opponent if he defeats WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).

According to DuBoef, the natural choice would be IBF champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), who recently shocked fans with a knockout victory over the favored Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).

"Dubois was at the peak of his form in that fight against Joshua. I wasn’t surprised. I think many in the UK were, and so were others worldwide. I thought whoever landed the first clean shot on the chin would win—and that’s basically what happened. They’re both punchers with somewhat vulnerable chins, and we saw that play out.

It was an exciting fight; in that final round, just before the knockout, Joshua suddenly connected, only for it to end just as suddenly with a knockout punch.

Stylistically, Dubois is a puncher up against a big boxer, creating a fantastic matchup with a striking contrast of styles. Then we could have another fight for the undisputed title, which is truly thrilling.

We’re speculating here since Tyson still has to get past Usyk. That’s a serious challenge ahead of him. But if he wins, setting up a fight with Dubois would be natural. After that, we can determine who the true king is—if Usyk and Fury face off for a third time. So, there are multiple exciting possibilities ahead," DuBoef stated.

In September, Daniel Dubois defeated Anthony Joshua by knockout in the fifth round, knocking him down four times. In May, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. Their rematch is scheduled for December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fury has expressed interest in leveling the score and making it a trilogy with the Ukrainian.
